Last week we noted the copyright infringement action filed by Brian Masck against Sports Illustrated, Getty Images, Desmond Howard and others relating to unauthorized use of Masck’s photograph of Howard celebrating a touchdown in 1991 by striking the Heisman pose. See earlier STORY.
Sunday’s Detroit Free Press noted that Howard has vowed to fight, expressing incredulity that he can be sued for using a photo of himself:
Howard expressed surprise at the suit, stating that “It seems absurd that someone can come after you more than two decades after you’ve played your last down and sue you over your own likeness.” The full Free Press story, with other amusing quotes from Mr. Howard, is HERE. Masck’s full complaint is HERE (pdf).
